Shoot – Kate

About a month ago, I was asked by one of my favourite photographers Catherine (from Tiny Pieces Photography) to work with her to photograph some incredible pieces from the Spring line of fashion label Casper & Pearl. I jumped at the chance and we, along with the delightful Olivia Lam as photography assistant and our beautiful model Kate from Asha Model Management, managed to create something that perfectly captured the whimsy and innocence of the line.

Shoot – Jane

Cathine from Tiny Pieces Photography and I made our way out to a beautiful lakeside location on the northside of Brisbane one particularly chilly afternoon to capture the stunning and super nice Jane, a new model to join the ranks of Vivien’s Model Management here in Brisbane.

Jane was an absolute pleasure to work with and a total professsional. When we told her that we wanted her in the water despite it being FREEZING she didn’t even flinch. We got some stunning photos out of it. I’ll even throw in a bonus behind the scenes photo of me getting Jane ready…

Shoot – Katrina

I had the absolute pleasure recently of shooting with the delightful Catherine of Tiny Pieces Photography and beautiful model Katrina on a shoot at the historic Toowong Cemetary. I am so happy with the results of the afternoon, check it out below…

Bridal

I am excited to share an image with you of one of my brides from late last year.

She wanted to keep her look really natural and fresh as she never normally wears much makeup and was also having a lunchtime wedding. She was really relaxed and the wedding had a really relaxed and casual vibe while still retaining a simplistic beauty. Her bouquet was made up of wild flowers and she wore antique flower clips in her hair.

All in all, it was an amazing theme and the makeup really suited it, and the bride was really, really happy with how it turned out.

Bridal – Naomi

Nomes 3

This is a lovely bride from late last year that I worked on, Naomi. She got married at the Roma Street Parklands, Brisbane in Spring. I think she was absolutely breathtaking – however I may be a little bit biased because she is also one of my best friends!

Naomi has a Korean mother which means that she had AMAZING skin to work with. I’ve always enjoyed working on her face but I am particularly proud of this and I know that she loved it which is the most important thing.

I used a silicon based foundation airbrushed onto the skin, followed with powder blush and very, very soft contouring under the cheekbones, jawline, hairline, and down the sides of the nose and a highlight dusted along the top of the cheeks, under the highest point of the brows and in the cupids bow.

Naomi wanted to veer away from the usual neutral colours most brides ask for and we incorporated an incredible soft, dusty purple shadow blended out into a charcoal shade in the outer corners to take the look from a daytime outdoor wedding to the night time reception.

I custom mixed a lipstick shade for her and prepped the lips with liner so that even while eating, drinking etc, there is still always some colour to the lips.

The makeup wore extremely well considering that it was actually quite a warm day and the sun was relentless. We also had a very early start for makeup so it lasted well over 14 hours without incident.

Here are a couple more pictures for you that I just loved.

Frock Paper Scissors

Last night I attended the launch of the annual QUT publication of Frock Paper Scissors. I collaborated with an absolutely incredible team a while back on this concept and absolutely loved everything about it. I had hoped to make it onto their online section, but never dreamed that my shoot would be chosen to grace the pages of this glossy mag.

So I showed up at the launch and was just loitering at the back, looking stealthily over peoples shoulders when they flicked through the magazine which I was yet to get my hands on. And then I saw it. And keep seeing it. Pages of my work. Five in all. In all their full size beauty and gloss. I think I may have made some kind of excited noise since a few people turned around to look, but I didn’t care because I was just too damn excited.

There is so, so much satisfaction seeing your work in print. Seeing it anywhere is amazing but knowing that your shoot was not only chosen out of a field of many, many extremely talented people and then given one of the largest layouts is incredibly humbling. I have since found out that not only did we managed to nab the coverted large spread, we also are being given an online feature and missed out of the cover of the magazine by the narrowest margin, only due to the fact that the editors wanted something with a little more colour. I am still processing it all really.

So I would love to thank the amazing group of people who made this possible –

Photographer – William Pitt-Thacker

Stylist – Jennifer Short

Hair – Jo O’Brien (an incredible up and coming makeup artist)

And of course, our gorgeous model – Anneliese @ Viviens

Fitness Shoot

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to work with personal trainer and fitness model Bec Lofts in a casual shoot. My goodness, the girl is fit. She put me and my somewhat patchy training regime to shame. Anyway, here are some of the pictures from that shoot.

Many thanks to Steve Carter of Scart Photography, our fabulous photographer for the day.

Disney Princess Pin-Up Shoot

Wow, two posts in two days – look at me go!

A little while back I had the absolute pleasure of working with four incredibly awesome girls who are your
(mostly) nomal ladies by day, but by night, they unleash their alter-egos as burlesque dancers.

They came up with the brilliant idea of combining Disney Princesses with Burlesque. They invited me to the party along with Klairissa from BluBerry Hair and the very awesome JnS Photographics. And the results? Breathtaking. Here are a few of my favourite shots…

A bit about me…

Hi Everyone!

My name is Bec and until a little while back I was just a gal who loved to play and talk about makeup. I started my own beauty blog and got to know the makeup community world-wide and was so inspired by what I saw that I had to go out and do something to make what was then just a hobby into a career!

After so much study, learning from my incredibly talented teachers and my amazing fellow students alike, here I am – ready to pretty up the world one face a time! I am  a fully qualified makeup artist ready to share my tips and tricks, answer your questions and most importantly, help you make every makeup moment a memorable one.

I am available for bookings of any variety – weddings, formals, special events, parties, photo shoots, personal one on one lessons – you name it and I’m in. If you are interested in booking me, my details can be found on the contact page. If you are interested in my services for a special project such as short films, commercials, runway etc, please do contact me so we can discuss it.

I am currently offering just makeup services in the South East Queensland area (although other areas can be arranged by special request). I can also style hair if you are interested in getting both done at the same time for a big event. I will soon be adding spray tanning and lash extensions to my bag of tricks. More to come as I complete training for them!

Please feel free to ask me anything you like.

Looking forward to getting to know you all,

Bec
